DJ hero, label head and producer A-Trak is premiering the video for “DJs Gotta Dance More” featuring Todd Terry today—watch and share here.

Of the song A-Trak explains, “I released ‘DJs Gotta Dance More’ over the summer. It’s very dear to me because it talks about all the rituals and experiences you go through when you learn how to produce music: digging for samples, discovering influences, and convincing your parents to let you make noise at the house! Getting Todd Terry to speak on the record was a blessing: he represents a New York state of mind, and a kinship between hip hop and house, which is a huge part of my identity.

He continues, “For the video, I wanted to reflect the quiet, intimate vibe of the song. My brother Dave (Chromeo) came up with the idea of doing an in-studio video, showing me and my co-producer Cory Enemy creating the track in real time, and Todd getting in the booth. It’s both a ‘making of’ video and a theatrical music video, shot 16mm film. We brought on Lauren Sick (Vampire Weekend, El-P, Chromeo) to direct it.”

Since its release, the track has received support from a wide range of DJs including David Guetta, Venus X, Tchami, Sebastian Ingrosso, Annie Mac, Busy P, The Magician, Kaskade and many more.

Later this fall A-Trak will also be presenting the second annual Goldie Awards at Brooklyn Steel on November 8. The event includes a Beat Battle and DJ Battle open to producers and turntablists from around the world. Hosts Desus Nice and Nadeska Alexis will be joined by an all-star cast of judges including Mark Ronson, Just Blaze, Craze, El-P, Anna Lunoe, Boys Noize and Venus X. Buy tickets here.
