July 10, 2024— Rising London pianist, vocalist and composer Ashley Henry is sharing his new single “Synchronicity;” stream/share it HERE. The track hails from Henry’s upcoming full length LP Who We Are, due later this year on naïve Records.

Fusing eclectic jazz and inner-city soul, “Synchronicity” displays Ashley Henry’s creative progression. Drawing from his classical training, the track takes shape through rolling breakbeats and ascending harmonies, creating a canvas for the rising talent to flaunt his piano acrobatics.

“London as a city can overwhelm sometimes,” notes Henry. “As someone who was born here, I have experienced the city change constantly around me. ‘Synchronicity’ is about finding your rhythm, finding a sense of belonging and relation in the city—and allowing it to push you forward. The underlying idea is that there is unity in difference; this is represented by these musical moving parts that coincide together which reflects city life, and the process of finding your flow within it.”

Taking on inspirations that reflect his London upbringing and Jamaican heritage, Ashley Henry’s genre-bending sound and collaborative practice draw from being a diligent student of the Black radical traditions. Exposed to futurism and history, pulse, restlessness and poise, the young talent naturally gravitated towards muses that have shaped his complex artistry today. From the powerful words of James Baldwin and Angela Davis to the soulful pieces of Ahmed Jamal and George Benson, Ashley’s vivid expressions of Jazz culture feel as beautiful as it does meaningful. Henry’s deep-rooted influences and visionary conviction make him one of the most exciting musicians emerging across London and beyond.

Since touring globally with Christine and the Queens and supporting Loyle Carner across the U.K., Henry has seen extensive critical acclaim from The Guardian, Evening Standard, Clash and Wonderland to name a few.
