LORI MCKENNA TO RELEASE NEW SONG “TIED TO YOU” FEATURING MEDIUM BUILD NEXT FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 12
September 5, 2025—Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter and musician Lori McKenna will release her new song, “Tied To You,” featuring acclaimed singer-songwriter Medium Build next Friday, September 12—pre-save/pre-order HERE.
Of the song, produced by Ben West (Stephen Wilson Jr., Carter Faith), McKenna shares, “I’m scared but that’s ok. I think it’s ok anyway. Uncertainty is one of the very few things certain in life after all. And I’m not that smart but I know my job as a student - and I’m more willing to learn now than when I was younger. My kids have been my greatest teachers. Along with love, pain, success, failure and grief. And so many other things. But the lessons that I’ve learned from being a parent - the ones that feel so personal and so specific in the beginning - have been the ones that are so universal once I have a better perspective of them. I wrote this song for one child who was moving across the world for a few months, out of my reach. Part apology, part prayer, part mantra. But once I took a look back at it, I realized that it wasn’t just about my kids. It’s about all of us. And everything. Tied together. The song is always bigger than I know how to be. I’m so grateful for that. The brilliant Ben West brought this recording to life for me. And from the very beginning my dreamer heart heard Medium Build on the other side of that eternal thread. I hope you hear the love in it. The apology, the prayer, the mantra…but mostly the love.”
A powerful live performer, McKenna will continue to tour this fall with headline shows across the Northeast and Midwest, including stops at The Ark in Ann Arbor, MI, the Colonial Theatre Laconia in Laconia, NH, the Spire Center in Plymouth, MA and others. See below for current tour itinerary.
One of music’s most respected voices, McKenna has released thirteen studio albums to date, including: 2016’s The Bird & The Rifle, 2018’s The Tree, 2020’s The Balladeer and 2023’s 1988, along with a subsequent deluxe edition. Produced by Dave Cobb (Brandi Carlile, Jason Isbell), 1988 was released to overwhelming critical acclaim with Billboard praising, “heartstring-tuggers…she can succinctly distill wisdom into a single line,” while People hailed, “overflow with the wise, soul-baring storytelling that she’s long been celebrated for, sung in her distinctively emotive voice.” In addition to her work as a solo artist, McKenna is one of the industry’s most in-demand songwriters, having written songs for artists such as Taylor Swift and Chris Stapleton, Miranda Lambert, Maren Morris, George Strait, Sheryl Crow, Carrie Underwood, Faith Hill and Reba McEntire. McKenna also co-wrote “Always Remember Us This Way,” which was featured in the Oscar-winning 2018 film, A Star Is Born. In the past few years, McKenna has won Best Country Song at GRAMMY Awards three times (The Highwomen’s “Crowded Table,” Tim McGraw’s “Humble and Kind” and Little Big Town’s “Girl Crush”), Song of the Year at the CMA Awards twice (“Girl Crush” and “Humble and Kind”) and was the first female to ever win the ACM Awards’ Songwriter of the Year award.
