CRITICAL ACCLAIM
September 27, 2024—As his current single, “Ain’t No Love in Oklahoma,” is #1 for a second week, country superstar Luke Combs has officially spent over a year (53 cumulative weeks) atop Billboard’s Country Airplay chart. With the achievement, Combs joins an esteemed group of artists who have also reached this landmark, including George Strait, Alan Jackson, Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney, Blake Shelton and Toby Keith. Since earning his first #1 in 2016 (“Hurricane”), Combs has continued to achieve historic success at country radio, with eighteen #1 singles on the Billboard chart, and nineteen-consecutive #1s on the MediaBase/Country Aircheck chart.
Of the milestone, Combs reflects, “Speechless honestly. I was unaware of this until my team told me and I’m really blown away. The support from Country Music Radio for my music and fans has always been more than I ever could have imagined. I’ve always known they were huge supporters of my music, but this proves it in more ways than one. I never thought I would get one week at #1 but when I did, I felt like I had won the lottery. So for my songs to have spent a full year at #1 with guys I grew up listening to and admiring is more than I could have ever dreamed of. Thank you, Country Radio, for letting this young man from North Carolina, who most had never heard of when y’all started playing my music, live out his dreams and do what he loves.”
Adding to yet another triumphant year, Combs also won three awards at last night’s People’s Country Choice Awards—Male Artist of 2024, Male Song of 2024 (“Ain’t No Love in Oklahoma”) and Album of 2024 (Fathers & Sons)—and is nominated for three awards at this year’s 58th Annual CMA Awards: Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year and Album of the Year (Fathers & Sons).
The first record of its kind, Fathers & Sons was released this past June on Columbia Nashville (stream/purchase here). A collection of 12 poignant tracks, the album was recorded entirely live and features Combs most personal songwriting to date, as he reflects on his own experiences being a dad to his two sons and the unique bond between parents and their children. In celebration of the project, Combs was recently featured on “CBS Sunday Morning” speaking with correspondent Kelefa Sanneh, while Fathers & Sons continues to receive widespread acclaim:

A Grand Ole Opry member and 11x CMA, 4x ACM, 6x Billboard Music Award-winner, Combs also recently became the first country artist to have three singles certified RIAA Diamond as his songs “Hurricane” and “When It Rains It Pours” joined “Beautiful Crazy” in achieving this milestone. He also recently joined forces with Post Malone for two songs on Malone’s new album, F-1 Trillion (“Guy For That” and “Missin’ You Like This”), is the subject of a new exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame and has partnered with Opry Entertainment Group to open Category 10, a massive multi-level entertainment complex in downtown Nashville later this fall.
Known for his electric live shows, Combs recently completed his record-breaking “Growin’ Up and Gettin’ Old” stadium tour and will perform select dates this fall including two nights at Washington’s Gorge Amphitheatre on October 4 and 5. Combs will also embark on a stadium tour across New Zealand and Australia next year, and will headline 2025’s Stagecoach Festival. See below for complete tour itinerary.
Earlier this year, Combs performed an unforgettable duet of “Fast Car” with Tracy Chapman during the 66th Annual GRAMMY Awards, which Rolling Stone called “one of the all-time best collaborative performances in Grammy history.” The performance added to a massive year for “Fast Car,” as Combs’ version of the song won Single of the Year at the 2024 ACM Awards and 2023 CMA Awards (with Chapman winning Song of the Year). It also spent five-consecutive weeks atop Billboard’s Country Airplay chart and reached #1 on the Hot AC chart, the first song by a male solo artist to ever top both. The 2x Platinum single, which has garnered over 1.1 billion global streams to date, also spent eighteen weeks in the top 5 of Billboard’s all-genre Hot 100 chart, eight of which were spent at #2.
