PAUL CAUTHEN UNVEILS “BLACK ON BLACK” + MUSIC VIDEO

TITLE TRACK FROM NEW ALBUM BLACK ON BLACK COMING THIS FALL

ON TOUR OF NORTH AMERICAN NOW

June 28, 2024—East Texas rising star Paul Cauthen today unveils a new song, “Black on Black” alongside a video directed by Gus Black—watch here and listen here. The song is the title track from Cauthen’s forthcoming album, Black on Black, set for release this fall on Anemoia Records/Atlantic Records. Pre-save the album here.

“Been working on this record for a few years now,” says Cauthen. “A ton of folks helped make this happen. Cannot wait for this to hit the world. I truly believe these songs even me out. It’s all of me. Black on Black is about being persistent. Love of the song. Having Faith in the gifts God gave ya. Save it, click it, download it, screen shot it, frame it, spin it. God bless.”

The track comes hot on the heels of a landmark few months for Cauthen, who brought out Lana Del Rey to duet on “Unchained Melody” at his Stagecoach set and features on Shaboozey’s “Last of my Kind” off of Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going.

Black on Black was written over the last several years during Paul’s travels across America on his motorcycle and in the tour bus, and recorded at Rosewood Studios in Cauthen’s hometown, Tyler, TX, with longtime collaborator Jason Burt (John Mayer, Leon Bridges).

The album features the recently released “Hot Damn,” which debuted this spring alongside a video shot on location at Rosewood and featuring Cauthen flexing his signature baritone in larger than life looks by his wife and stylist, Elizabeth Cauthen.

Celebrated for his remarkable baritone voice which has earned him the nickname Big Velvet, Cauthen grew up singing in the church choir and cut his chops as part of a tight knit creative community in East Texas.

Cauthen has steadily risen through the ranks of country and Americana, first gaining notoriety with roots duo Sons of Fathers before embarking on a solo career with his debut album, My Gospel. He’s gone on to release two more much-lauded albums—Room 41 and 2022’s Country Coming Down—and toured the world over, collaborating and sharing stages with Margo Price, Orville Peck, Elle King, Midland, Cody Jinks and many more.

Known for his raucous, high energy live shows, Cauthen is currently touring North America with dates across the continent through the fall, including sets at Outside Lands, Country Calling and mroe. See below for full tour routing and visit paulcauthenmusic.com for more information.
