WINTER PARK RETURNS TO THE ORION AMPHITHEATER NOVEMBER 30-JANUARY 1
November 6, 2023—Winter Park will return starting Thursday, November 30 with attractions across The Orion Amphitheater, Apollo South and Jeff & Blues. Following last year’s inaugural event, the park will once again feature a variety of seasonal activities including an ice-skating rink inside the amphitheater, meet and greets with Santa Claus in his workshop, festive performances, train rides, holiday movies and carolers as well as a variety of food and beverage offerings such as popcorn roasting and s’mores kits.
Always committed to sustainability, the Orion will also implement environmentally friendly elements this season including the use of GLICE for the ice-skating rink—a synthetic material that reduces water and electric use, while providing a more satisfactory guest experience.
Open through January 1, 2024, Winter Park is free to enter with additional activities and festive snacks and drinks available for purchase. The park will be open Thursdays from 4:00-9:00pm, Fridays from 4:00-10:00pm, Saturdays from 12:00-9:00pm and Sundays from 12:00-9:00pm. Winter Park will also be open for select off-schedule dates including December 19, 20, 26 and 27 and closed on December 7 and 25.
In addition to last year’s Winter Park activities, there will also be a series of special events on-site this season including Christkindlmarket (a 3-day Bavarian-style holiday market), Santa Paws (a day of pet photos with Santa), Winter SLAY (a fashion show and Drag performance on the ice rink) and Odette Onstage (on-stage dinners with Odette’s Chef Josh). Full schedule and pricing details can be found at www.theorionhuntsville.com.
Of the Park, Managing Director Ryan Murphy shares, “We are excited about the return of Winter Park as it illustrates the multitude of ways in which the Orion can host events and activities that are valuable and accessible to the wider community. Winter Park is the perfect event to bring your whole family, friends and anyone visiting during the holiday months.”
Winter Park adds to yet another landmark season at the Orion, which included performances from esteemed artists such as Lana Del Rey, Brandi Carlile, Snoop Dogg, James Taylor, Phish, Billy Strings, Widespread Panic, Ja Rule and Ashanti, Turnpike Troubadours, Weezer and many more. The Orion also continues to receive widespread accolades, as it was nominated for Amphitheater of the Year at the 2023 and 2022 IEBA Awards, nominated for New Concert Venue of the Year at the 2022 Pollstar Awards, and won the 2022 Partnership in Tourism Award from the Alabama Tourism Department and Attraction of the Year from the Alabama Mountain Lakes Association.
