FALL TOUR DATES WITH WYATT FLORES, ZACH TOP AND MORE CONFIRMED
Already receiving widespread critical acclaim, Billboard highlights her uniqueness, noting she “stands out in a crowded crop of newcomers,” while Rolling Stone praises, “Hofmann plays her shows with a commanding stage presence that blends charisma with confidence, and sings with a commanding voice…it’s hard to ignore Hofmann’s potential in country music.”
Produced by Patrick Lyons (Colter Wall, Sam Barber), Purple Gas draws deep inspiration from Hofmann’s life in the Badlands of Southern Alberta, Canada, where she’s worked in honky-tonks and herded cattle across the Canadian prairies. Consisting of seven songs, including the title track, “Rodeo Junkies,” “August” and “Lightning in July (Prairie Fire),” the EP finds Hofmann’s unique sound and perspective shining through, and her voice, described by All Country News as “rich and textured as the rural landscapes that inspire her,” on full display.
Of the EP, Hofmann shares, “Purple gas is dyed fuel sold at a lower tax rate to farmers and ranchers for agricultural use in Alberta, Canada, where I'm from. It’s similar to off-road fuel in the U.S. and you need a special license plate to burn it on public roads.” She continues,
“The title of this project is a metaphor. In my mind, purple gas, as a commodity, symbolizes resilience and the rural attitude of where I'm from. The songs on this project have been the petrol in my tank, fueling every step taken while I run after my north stars and follow the constellation's lead off the beaten path. They will continue to be on the next stretch of ground that will unravel with their release.
The songs on this project capture a notably raw and formative period in my life, from ages 18 to 20. It was equally as gorgeous as it was heart-wrenching. I lived and wrote most of these pieces at 19, before I had ever been on tour and before much of the life I know now. I’ll never quite be the same girl who wrote those songs again. The project is a time capsule.”
Hofmann’s song, “Purple Gas,” has already garnered widespread notice after catching attention online from both fans and artists alike, including Zach Bryan, who, after being instantly moved by the track, asked Hofmann to record it with him as a duet for his new album, The Great American Bar Scene—the first time he’s ever recorded another artist’s work. Of the track, Bryan shares, “This song brought me to tears the first time I heard it, so it was really important for me that Noeline gave me the privilege to sing it with her. I have never covered another musician on an album and it’s because I was waiting on someone to write a song like this. Noeline resonates like Gillian Welch to me and Gillian is one of my favorite musicians to ever live.” Listen to the duet version, which is also featured on Hofmann’s EP, here.
Poised for a breakout year, the 21-year-old artist has also been praised for her “mature and haunting voice, and an innate knack for storytelling” (Whiskey Riff), named one of Holler Country’s “New Country & Americana Artists for 2024,” and made her Grand Ole Opry debut in September. Hofmann will also tour throughout this fall including dates supporting Wyatt Flores, Shane Smith & The Saints and Zach Top. See below for complete tour itinerary.
